Heather Leigh Hilterman

HILTERMANHEATHER LEIGHAge 41, of Ingram, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, unexpectedly due to unforeseen medical complications, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Beloved daughter of Michael and Janet (McCartney) Hilterman; sister of Molly Hilterman. Predeceased by grandparents, Edward and Audrey Ryan; George and Ruth McCartney. Niece of Margaret (Gary) Graham, George and Carol McCartney, Kathleen (Lawrence Feltz) McCartney, Eileen (Joseph Cirelli) McCartney, and the late Joseph Hilterman; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, faculty, staff, students, and many friends. Heather was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, received her Bachelor's at IUP, and two Master's degrees from Duquesne University. She then started her teaching career with kindergarten, then taught upper elementary at St. Benedict the Moor, until promoted to Principal for the last five years. Heather was the recipient of the Diocese of Pittsburgh "Golden Apple" Award for excellence in education. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, and loved Harry Potter, and Disney. The strength of Heather's character made her a leader and her sense of humor, wit and irony kept us all entertained. From her extremely close family, to her Childhood camping buddies, to her sorority sisters to her staff and students: the impact of her life will continue to echo through the years. Family and friends received Saturday and Sunday 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the SCHEPNER-MCDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 165 Noble, Ave., Crafton. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10 a.m. in St. Benedict the Moor Church. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH).
