Estelle Dailey Obituary

Estelle Mae Dailey, affectionately known as Aunt Tim, was born in Evergreen, Al (Burnt Corn, Al) on May 17, 1928, and departed this life on April 3, 2024, in Randallstown, MD. She was the 8th of 13 children born to Essie Kyles, Sr. and Clara Cunningham-Kyles. Hard working and unified, the Kyles Family worked as sharecroppers on the family farm which included an array of chores. She was educated in the Alabama school system and advanced to high school. It was her desire to complete her high school education but chores and finances did not grant the opportunity. She made life experiences her wealth of education.

Estelle's domestic skills developed at an early age providing assistance to her mother caring for the other siblings after her father's untimely passing. She became an excellent chef by making low budget meals and desserts for the family ... better than any gourmet chef. Service became her passion in home or wherever it was needed.
In the early 1950's she married Fred Dailey. After a short time, they migrated to Pittsburgh, PA with their daughter Shelby Dean. After their arrival in Pittsburgh she worked for several years at Federal Enamel in McKees Rocks, PA as a factory worker.

Estelle joined Trinity AME Zion Church and served for many years as a volunteer, assisting the Nurses and as a member of the Kitchen Committee. While serving at Trinity AME Zion, she reunited with her longtime friend from Alabama, Lillie Royster Valentine. Their relationship was a joyous and rewarding experience for her.

Estelle was preceded in death by her husband Fred Dailey, her parents, eleven siblings and granddaughter Kenya Rawls Gomez. She leaves to mourn her loss: beloved daughter Shelby Dean and son- in-law Allen Rawls; granddaughter, Kea R. Rawls; great grandsons, Antonio Allen Gomez and Austyn Rawls Carrington; brother, Eugene Kyles (Clara) of Pittsburgh, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends received Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 10 to 11 am at SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Ave. Pittsburgh (Crafton) PA, 15205- where a Funeral Service will take place at 11 am.
