It is with great sadness and many tears that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Carol Galloway (Lehman) who departed from this world October 7, 2023.
Carol was born in Glassport, PA on March 20, 1939, to Edward and Carolyn Lehman. A more beautiful soul could not be found. She approached the world with a relentless expression of love and kindness. She was always kind to strangers and never spared an uplifting or encouraging word. She was known to be a magnet for strays, both human and four-legged. Animals were drawn to her, and she was the parent who inherited the classroom pets at the end of the year.
She was especially kind to children and many in the neighborhood were treated to her homemade chocolate chip cookies or popcorn balls while they were playing dodgeball in the alleyways. It is easy to see why she was loved by many… she was an angel in disguise. She gave and expected nothing in return, and yet, she appreciated everything. Carol was a homemaker and mother who was devoted to her husband and children. She loved singing and was a member of her church’s choir for many years. Her hobbies included drawing, reading, and nature.
Her children and her grandchildren were her greatest treasures. To Carol, life was about family and even though she was separated from them by distance, they were always close to her heart and prayers.
Carol was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband John Edgar (Ed), and her parents, Edward Adam, and Carolyn.
She is survived by her children Cathy, Elaine, and Sharon; grandchildren Michael, Amanda, Cory, and Devin; brother Ed (Edward Allen); great-grandchildren Amari, Kiira, Guinevere, and Max; as well as many dear friends too numerous to be named, whom Carol considered to be family.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Dubois Nursing Home third floor in Dubois, PA for their unwavering compassion and kindness over the past three years. Carol counted many of them as friends.
Carol will be interred with her sweetheart, Ed, on October 16, 2023, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 11 AM.
