Claire D. (Diethorn) Gigante

Claire D. (Diethorn) Gigante, age 89, of Westwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023.  Beloved wife of 66 years to the late Carmen E. Gigante.  Loving mother of Gina Himel, Paul, Wayne (the late Cindy), Kathy (Jim) DeFrances, Carmen, and Maria (Randy) Brumbaugh; cherished grandmother of Evan, Erik, James, Caitlin (Nick), Gina (T.J.), Rikki (Gino), Casey (Dan), Christian (Amanda), Lindsey (Tyler), Brandon, Luke, Kevin, and Brett (Kaitlin); sister-in-law of Anita Gigante; also survived by several great-grandchildren.  Claire was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Catherine Diethorn and siblings Lawrence, Al, Joe, Oscar, Regis, Lorraine, Garnett, Sr. Grace, and Mary.  Claire enjoyed traveling, the casino, baking, cooking, classic country music, and was an avid Pirates Fan.  She was a wonderful soft-spoken and gentle person.  Claire was stylish and had a beautiful smile.  She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and everyone that knew her loved her.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Relatives and friends received Thursday 3-8 PM at SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 165 Noble Avenue, Crafton.  Funeral prayer 9 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in The Parish of St. Raphael the Archangel, St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 310 Mansfield Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Claire’s memory may be made to Dementia Society of America, P.O.
