Frederick L. Schell

Frederick L. "Fred" Schell, age 75, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, April 21, 2023.  Beloved husband of 27 years to Margery (Skacel) Schell.   Brother of Sandy (Michael) Lasley, Debbie Schell (fiance’ Steve Karas), and the late Richard Schell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Fred studied at The Juilliard School under Vernon DeTar.  He played the organ at several area churches including Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Pittsburgh for 30 years, St Bernard Catholic Church in Mt. Lebanon, and Ruthfred Lutheran Church in Bethel Park.  Fred dedicated his life to liturgical organ music and was a talented hymnist and master of classical organ registration.  Relatives and friends received Wednesday 1-3 & 6-8 PM at SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Avenue, Crafton.  Funeral prayer Thursday 9 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Raphael The Archangel, S.S. Simon & Jude Church, 1607 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
