Irma J. (Holzapfel) Sanders

Irma J. Holzapfel Sanders, age 77, of Mt. Washington, peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2021, surrounded by her family.  Beloved wife of the late William Sanders.  Loving mother of Sean (Robin) Sanders and Erin (David) Zahniser.  Cherished grandmother of Luke and Ada Zahniser and Riley and Mason Sanders.  She is survived by siblings William, Francis, Patricia, James, Margaret, Michael, and Timothy.  She was preceded in death by siblings John, Joseph, Mary Jane, Catherine, Sarah, Ellen and Thomas. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  She enjoyed time spent with her family and family was most important to her. Irma worked for The Allegheny Valley School for the intellectual disabled.   Irma was devoted to her Catholic Faith.  She was very compassionate and caring and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Relatives and friends received Wednesday 1-3 & 6-8 PM at SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Avenue, Crafton. Funeral prayer Thursday 9 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Mary, Queen of Peace Parish, St. Mary of the Mount Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Irma’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
