On January 29, 2022, at the age of 90, James Edward Flynn of Crafton, PA passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife and surrounded by family. Jim lived an incredible life where he lived every moment to the fullest. He loved to travel and truly found joy in the simplest of things. Everything he tried was the “Best he ever had." His children teased him continuously and nicknamed him, “Poor Jim”.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 65 years, Mary Wallace Flynn, 11children; Bernie (Robin Thompson), Jimmy (Mary Platek), Kelli Flynn, Tracy (the late Charles) Goodwin, Maureen Waldron (John), Kristie Flynn, Cassie (the late Kenneth Butya) (Jim Boyle), Jan Dulaney (Chuck), Mike Flynn, Lori Coulter (Chaz), Colleen Anthony (Phillip), 22 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by grandchild, Devon Dulaney.
Jim graduated from Crafton High School in 1950, where he loved playing football and earned the nickname “BULLET, for his exceptional speed. He met the love of his life in 1952 while he was a patient of hers at AGH, and then was drafted into the US Navy in 1953. Everyone knows Jim was a devout Catholic and enjoyed his many years as an usher at St. Philip Church. Every Sunday, you would find him watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoying a nice glass of red wine.
Relatives and friends received Sunday February 6, 2022, from1-8 PM at SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Avenue, Crafton. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 11:30 AM in St. Philip Church, 50 W. Crafton Avenue, Crafton. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Interment to follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors.
