Margaret A. (Thurston) O'Brien

Margaret Ann Thurston O'Brien, age 93, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, surrounded by her family.  Born on Valentine’s Day in 1929, she married Jim O’Brien in 1950 and was the love of her life for nearly 73 years. Together, they had seven children: James/Tyke (Darlene), John (Terri), Joe (Marilyn Mangus), Jeff (Judy Burke), Lorraine (Jim) McMullen and Linda Topoleski; 12 grandchildren: Kristy (Frank) Folino, Katie, Kevin (Allie), Philip (Kelly), Michael (Steffie), Lauren (Nick), Erin (Brian), Mark, Kristen (A.J.), and four great-grandchildren: Zachary, Nicholas, Hazel, and Elsie.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lila Mae and Julian Thurston, her son, Jay, her granddaughter, Allison and her daughter-in-law, Lindy. She was one of 12 children.  Relatives and friends received Sunday 2-8 PM at SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Avenue, Crafton.  Funeral prayer Monday 9:15 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Philip Catholic Church.   If desired, donations may be made in her name to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 N.
