Mary Morris Obituary

We regretfully announce the heavenly transition of Mary (Molly) Barbara O’Toole Morris on November 10, 2021.  She was surrounded by the family of staff at McMurray Hills Manor whom she cherished dearly.  Affectionately known as “Molly” to her friends and family, and “Nonny” to her grandchildren, Molly was born on July 7, 1937, to the late Martin and Mary O’Toole in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Molly graduated from Crafton High School in 1957 and earned a degree in nursing at the Mercy School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. After graduating, fostering her gift of caregiving, she worked in a variety of nursing areas starting with maternity wards, people with disabilities and later as an industrial nurse at US Steel Homestead Works, and finally at Cyclops Steel Corporation in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania until her retirement.  Molly was known for her quick wit, wise words, encyclopedic vocabulary, and ability to know the right thing to say (even if it was wildly inappropriate). She was admired for her spirited, generous, caring and candid personality.  As the family matriarch, she nurtured all with her wisdom and unconditional love. The eldest of five, she was a devoted sister to her brothers Joseph, Martin, John and Raymond.  Molly treasured time with her family, staying up late, and enjoying her favorite movies and shows. For hobbies, she was an avid crocheter, figurine collector, and Bingo fan. The most notable of her pastimes was the care and sentiment she put into a handwritten card.  In 1962 she married Robert, and together they went on to have children Debra, Robert, Linda, Karen, and Kathy.  Molly was a tenacious, strong, loyal, and hardworking mother, who raised five equally formidable children. The affection and pride she had for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren who she referred to as “the apples of her eye” was immense. Her generous and loving nature will forever live in the hearts of those she touched. Molly will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many good friends, all who loved her dearly will never forget her determination, wit, charm, and warmth. Special thanks to the wonderful family at McMurray Hills Manor who provided invaluable care and friendship for many years.  The Loved ones who cleared the path for Molly are her parents Martin and Mary, brothers Martin, John and Raymond, her children Robert and Kathleen, and granddaughter Marybeth. Loved ones that will miss Molly until they meet again are her brother Joseph, Children Debra, Linda and Karen, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort with knowing that she is in the arms of her angels. Please consider honoring her memory with condolences, flowers, or attending the funeral ceremonies.  Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:30 AM in St. Catherine Leboure' Parish - St Louise de Marillac Church, 320 McMurray Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241 followed by prayers of committal in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH).  Arrangements entrusted to SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Avenue, Crafton.
