Norma Shields Obituary

Norma L. (Marburger) Shields

Age 90, of Crafton, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Beloved mother of Richard (Donna), Rodney (Judy), Randal (Robin), and Rustin (Kitty) Shields. Dear grandmother of Richard, Valerie, Ryan, Madison, Jon Ross, Erin, and MacKenzie. Sister of Donald and Terry Marburger. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Norma was a 1947 graduate valedictorian from Crafton High School. A former longtime employee at Union Carbide as a Customer Service Manager, until retirement in 1990. Norma was a member of the Business Professional Women-BPW, a member of Crafton Women's Civic Club, she was active with CIT Baseball and Carlynton Boosters, also a lifetime member of the Crafton United Methodist Church, where she served as a deacon and on the board of trustees. She also founded and managed the daycare center at the church. Her pastimes were cooking, baking and noted for making the world's best waffles. She enjoyed sewing, needle point, and crocheting, loved to play cards and was hard to beat at 500. An avid reader, Steelers, Pens and Pirate fan. She loved the teams of Pittsburgh, especially the Steelers; making her Steelers blankets for the veterans home. Norma's number one love, passion, and pastime was when she could be with her four sons and grandchildren. Family was everything to Norma and her sons were her four shining stars. Due to current health restrictions, all services will be private.
