Philip C. Bickel

Age 88, of Carnegie, formerly of Clover Leaf Estates, peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020. One year to the date of his dear daughter, Maria (Belch) Doherty passing; also preceded in death by his wife, Sara (Russo Belch) Bickel; loving and devoted grandfather of Angela Zucchero and Emma Doherty; brother of Norma Hammer and the late Frank Bickel; also survived by nieces, nephews, Karen, David, Kevin and Tim Hammer. Phil was a Korean War Army Veteran and a popular Mail carrier in the South Hill for many years. Not only was Phil a professional baseball player, but he also coached semi-professional baseball team, 20th Ward for nearly fifty years and scouted for the Pirates and Reds. Due to the current health crisis, there will be a private family viewing and blessing service. Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be announced at a later date.
